Using Nature-Inspired Approaches for Problem Solving

Nature has evolved complex phenomenon from which we have derived inspiration for useful and interesting problem solving techniques. These include the complex murmuration of flocks of starlings, how ants find food, and animal breeding. In this talk we’ll cover three such approaches that were inspired by these phenomenon: particle swarm optimization, ant colony optimization, and evolutionary algorithms.

Dr. Mark Coletti, Research Scientist in AI & Machine Learning at ORNL, will give this talk and Q&A via Webinar on January 27 @ 1:00pm. Have a question for him? Email him at colettima@ornl.gov.
