Oak Ridge City Schools
are comprised of a preschool (ages 3-4), four elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school. Approximate enrollment of kindergarten through 12 is 4,411 students with a support staff of 300 and a licensed staff of 427.
Seventy-six percent of Oak Ridge teachers hold a
masters level degree
, and the primary and secondary schools are among the finest in Tennessee and the nation. In addition to the City system, a parochial school also exists within the city limits covering grades one through eight.

In the fall of 1999, a new approximately 100,000 square foot branch campus for
Roane State Community College
(RSCC) opened its doors. This facility is located in east Oak Ridge (between Laboratory and Emory Valley Roads) and serves more than 2,000 students per term. The campus includes a number of amenities such as a library; art, music and science labs; numerous computer labs; a health science wing; a bookstore; a grill and much more. RSCC offers courses in radiation physics, radioactive waste management and a two-year certification program for health physics technicians.
Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU)
,
provides innovative scientific and technical solutions to advance research and education, protect public health and the environment, and strengthen national security. Through specialized teams of experts, unique laboratory capabilities, and access to a consortium of more than 100 major Ph.D-granting institutions, ORAU works with federal, state, local, and commercial customers to advance national priorities and serve the public interest. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation and federal contractor, ORAU manages the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
