From Mozart to Mahler: A Symphonic Crash Course

Join ORCMA’s Guest Conductor & Music Director Finalist, Ian Passmore, as he leads us on a “crash” course on the symphony as a genre. Through a few “case studies” of the Austrian-German tradition, Maestro Passmore will track the development of the genre from its early stages to its most excessive!  We’ll listen to excerpts of symphonies — Mozart, Beethoven, Mahler, and maybe even a surprise composer or two — and talk about what makes each unique, but also how each one logically evolved toward the next.
