Display Cases

In addition to educating, enriching, and entertaining our community, displays provide exposure for your nonprofit organization and help to grow your membership. As a public service we offer free display space with 4 window displays in the library’s hallway .

Information about the cases we offer and the restrictions and conditions of use can be found below. To reserve a display case, please complete the form below.

Conditions of Use

You must be one of the following:
  • a registered non-profit
  • a service and/or arts related community organization
  • an individual living in the Oak Ridge community
Your display must be used for one of the following purposes:
  • to inform the public of the purpose and scope of your particular group
  • to display your hobby, collection, crafts, and/or handiworks
Your display CANNOT:
  • promote any political, religious, personal, group, or association’s beliefs, opinions or positions
  • advocate/encourage discrimination of persons because of sex, race, gender, national origin, or religion
  • depict profanity, violence, or illegal activity of any kind
  • display prices (although you may display your contact information for items that are for sale)

These conditions are subject to change. The Oak Ridge Public Library reserves the right to ask an organization to dismantle and/or change a display.

Community Displays
  • Available to local individuals, service organizations, non-profits, local artists, art students, and art-related organizations
  • Four cases measuring 46″ x 46″ are located in the hallway of the library
  • Cases feature:
    • Internal lighting
    • Adjustable glass shelves
    • Locking glass door panels

Reserve a Display Case

Disclaimers

– You must supply all of your materials including thumb tacks, backdrops, tape, etc.
– Displays must be placed by the 5th of the month, or the space will be reassigned.
– Displays must be removed by/on the last day of the month.
– City sponsored displays have priority at the discretion of the Library Director.
– Artists are welcome to offer their work for sale although they must take responsibility for all aspects of the transaction. The library will not act as the artist’s agent in the sale of his/her/their work.
– Each displaying artist is solely responsible for the content of their work. Any copyright or intellectual property rights are the artist’s responsibility.
– Preference will be given to those artists holding an Oak Ridge Public Library card.
– Oak Ridge Public Library reserves the right to refuse the use of the exhibit areas to anyone whose display is disruptive of library functions or who has been trespassed from City property, been suspended from the Library or Rec Centers, or violates library policies.
– Though cases do have locks, neither the City of Oak Ridge nor the Oak Ridge Public Library staff assume responsibility for the preservation, protection, insurance or possible damage or theft of any items or materials displayed.
