The FOL was organized in 1959 to increase the opportunities for the association of persons interested in books and libraries, to increase the facilities and services of the Oak Ridge Public Library, and to enrich the cultural opportunities available to the citizens of the Oak Ridge area. They help to support the Oak Ridge Public Library through fundraising and other efforts which allow us to offer a wider array of services than would be possible without them.

While you can become a member of FOL, the FOL Book Club is available to anyone, meaning that an FOL membership is not required to participate.
